Have Rem 760 pump, 30/06 with 3x9 Bushnell. Would like to trade for a
lever action in 30/30 or 32 Win. I need gun to build a 38/55 for Ohio
deer season. Want model with straight stock and full magazine. Not looking
for a mint rifle or collectors item, also no models with safety. Can't use a
35 cal. Bolt head won't work on 38/55.

Straight-walled cartridge rifles in the following calibers: .357 Magnum, .357 Maximum, .38 Special, .375 Super Magnum, .375 Winchester, .38-55, .41 Long Colt, .41 Magnum, .44 Special, .44 Magnum, .444 Marlin, .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .45 Long Colt, .45 Winchester Magnum, .45 Smith & Wesson, .450 Marlin, .454 Casull, .460 Smith & Wesson, .45-70, .45-90, .45-110, .475 Linebaugh, .50-70, .50-90, .50-100, .50-110, and .500 Smith & Wesson.
Shotguns and straight-walled cartridge rifles can be loaded with no more than three shells in the chamber and magazine combined.

I'm with you on this one a handgun would be my first choice. The 45LC and 44 mag would get the job done In Ohio woodlands. AS for the smaller calibers a well placed shot is a must. A heavy bullet moving around 1200 FPS will get the job done A red dot or Holographic like EOTeck. Just my 2 cents.

I'm an old school type guy. A 30/30 or 32 spec can be converted into a
38/55 by swapping barrel and some minor work on guide rails for
catridges. Why 38/55, same pressures as 30/30, the 375 Win is a bit
more potent. I figure a 220 gr out of 38/55 will be flat shooter compared
to larger cals. Deer ain't Cape buffalo, they are fairly easy to kill. Believe me
I'm only doing this for a project. I have 45/70-44mg rifles and a bucket
