Have Rem 760 pump, 30/06 with 3x9 Bushnell. Would like to trade for a
lever action in 30/30 or 32 Win. I need gun to build a 38/55 for Ohio
deer season. Want model with straight stock and full magazine. Not looking
for a mint rifle or collectors item, also no models with safety. Can't use a
35 cal. Bolt head won't work on 38/55.

I'm with you on this one a handgun would be my first choice. The 45LC and 44 mag would get the job done In Ohio woodlands. AS for the smaller calibers a well placed shot is a must. A heavy bullet moving around 1200 FPS will get the job done A red dot or Holographic like EOTeck. Just my 2 cents.

I'm an old school type guy. A 30/30 or 32 spec can be converted into a
38/55 by swapping barrel and some minor work on guide rails for
catridges. Why 38/55, same pressures as 30/30, the 375 Win is a bit
more potent. I figure a 220 gr out of 38/55 will be flat shooter compared
to larger cals. Deer ain't Cape buffalo, they are fairly easy to kill. Believe me
I'm only doing this for a project. I have 45/70-44mg rifles and a bucket
full of magnum revolvers. View attachment 1206 View attachment 1207
