Found this little beauty at the local gun club gun show this morning. AR platform, .17 Remington. A pretty old one but, in fair shape. Bull barrel, target edition.
After a very short search, i found that the little 25 grain bullet, travels at an average speed of near 4125 fps.
Traded for an old Mod. 29 Smith which i had $600.00 in.
The really bad part of this, had to stop and get go,go's for it so i could make sure it fired properly. $60.00 + tax for the little piss ant rounds. And guys, thats 20 rounds.:mad::flag::flag:

Three dollars a round not a bargain that would suck but I like the gun.:)

  3. Had a Remington 700BDL in 17Rem,bought in the 70s',sold about 10 years ago. Was my favorite bolt action,no recoil, free floated the barrel and adjusted the trigger, produced good groups. I reloaded for it. That small .17 case hole got a lot of case cleaning tumbling media stuck in them and had to make a special powder funnel for the powder. Had a 6-24 scope on it and those small bullet holes in paper were difficult to see at 100 yards. Was my daughters favorite 'one shot one kill' for pop cans at 100 yards.
BUT,the rifling barrel lands were proportionally small/depth and very easily metal fouled(the high velocity). After 6-12 rounds,bullets/projectiles began tumbling and time to clean/scrub the barrel to return to normal.
I miss the rifle but I don't miss the damn barrel cleaning !

The Remington factory ammo 25gr. Power-lokt was incredibly tight grouping. The Remington 25gr Power-lokt bullets for reloading always grouped better than the Hornady 25gr bullets.
