Seems I fell into a good deal on an AR10a Lower/Upper set. These are the new Armalite prodcuts that accept the Waffle mags (Knights and DPMS pattern lower.)

The upper, lower, lower parts kit, buffer tube, barrel nut, free float hand guard, and target grip came with it. So what I need now is a barrel, bolt carrier group with bolt, trigger, bi-pod and optic.

So, I've got some decisions to make at this point. Anyone have any suggestions??

Regards.

I bought my Armalite AR10 5 years ago and I was devastated to learn that the only 20 round mags it would take are the $75 Armalite brand. I looked into modifying m-14 mags but it didn't seem worth the hassle.

Do you know if these lowers are backwards compatible and have they instituted a last round lock back feature? I am not crazy about having to cycle the bolt after a mag change. I would rather slam, slap and get back on target instead of my trigger hand coming off.

Have you thought about optics yet? I put a Nikon Buckmaster on mine and so far I'm really happy with the results.

The upper and lower are different between the AR10-A and the AR10-B models. They aren't compatible at all. My I haven't finished building it yet, so I can't tell you if the LRBHO is functional or not. It does have a lip on it to catch the magazine, so I *think* it may be functional, but I don't know yet because I haven't finished this build.

Ah.... I'm very interested to hear about your progress in this build. I have the 20" barrel on mine and it was definitely the right decision. I can't remember the twist off hand but if you're interested I can track it down.

Good luck in your project and if you need or want any other warranted or unwarranted suggestions hit me up! :D

New guy here. Just bought a DPMS LR308 24" stainless bull barrel. For optics I went with the Nikon M-308 scope. Nikon claims it is good for 100 to 800 yards. It comes with a BDC or regular Nikon cross hair. The cross hair has the knob marked at 50 yard intervals to dill in the yardage. I would check it out when you ready for optics.

Finally decided on a barrel. 1:11.25 twist, 20". I'm going to probably move the gas port to soften the recoil impulse and make it more silencer friendly. ;)

Now to find a bolt carrier group!!

I love see these project guns come together here. I am so anxious to get my lower and start the build. I hope that sometime after the first of the year I can start to save some money for the upper. ;)
