  2. No it is not just you HK. I too have seen a lot of the steel case, the aluminum and cheap brass ammo. The second I see a sale on any ammo I try and get some but it's few and far between. I am glad I roll my own at this point. :)

  3. My last big online order took almost two weeks to get delivered when it normally shows up in about three days.

Backlog of orders and lack of components appear to be the reason.

Lots of people buying ammo these days.

  4. I do believe your 100% correct, with the increase in sales there has been an increase in the ammo stockpiling that people are building. Even components are getting hard to find anymore including lead shot. Some places are up to almost $50 for a 25lb bag of shot. I know that the last time I went to Cabelas to buy ammo they had on sale it was the second day and they were sold out. Heck I keep checking Wally-World for good prices on Winchester white box.

UPDATE: called centerfire two weeks ago they said they were getting a shipment of ammo , called today they said they got the shipment of ammo BUT NO .223!
called AIMS and they had Wolf performance :)
    so i got 1000 yes:thumbs:
might buy a bunch more incase it all dries up.

  7. It's a result of supply and demand. People are stocking up before the coming election. The manufacturers are finding they can raise their prices and people just keep buying it. Guns are moving almost as fast as the ammo. I stocked up on the pistol calibers awhile back and I'm working on the rifle and shotty ammo now. The .223 has been going for $7.00 a 20 rd. box at the Lima gun show and the metal GI AR mags are going for $9.00 ea. I'll be loading up some more this coming weekend, I just have to figure out where I'm going to store it.

Reloading components, especially bullets seem hard to get at a good price. I have been using a guy out of Iowa, but he seems to be out of everything, or at least the usuals (45,40,9). Anybody have a cheap source that is in the sate?

Just today bought 2000 rds. of .223 out of cabelas for $500. Little high but couldn't find it cheaper and i don't reload. Next gotta bye some .45 ACP. Last time i bought .223's at cabelas they were 20.6 cents rd. Don't think we'll ever see that price again.......thanx obama, you socialist prick, bastard!!

    Sorry guys....got a little upset.

  10. Don't hold back Diesel, tell us how you really feel. LOL

I can sympathize with you though and agree 100%.

  11. Yep, ammo is definitley getting slightly harder (and more expensive) to find, especially if you attempt to purchase it locally.

For the last few years I've resorted to major online purchases and I'm sure there are many more like me which just makes the situation worse.

Add in all of the "new" gun owners who can't find ammo for their recently purchased .380 or 9mm pocket gun and it just gets worse by the day.

About the only good thing is a lot of the people buying the new gun and then the 100 or so rounds will fall by the wayside once the newness of "gun ownership" wears off and Obummer gets booted out of the country (not just the office).

I'm with you A.D. I've been bying on-line for quite some time now and it is definitly cheaper. And as with Cabelas and Sportsmans Guide, the more you bye, the cheaper it is.
